BALIK PULAU: A mechanic has been charged in the Sessions Court today with allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl on Nov 22.
Muhammad Nasrul Afiq Muhamad Ghani, 18, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read before judge Ahzal Fariz Ahmad Khairuddin.
According to the charge, Nasrul Afiq was accused of raping a 14-year-old girl, between 1am and 1.30am at a house in a village here on 22 Nov.
He faces a potential penalty of up to 20 years in prison and caning upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Lim Jin Hong prosecuted the case whereas the accused was not represented.
During proceedings, Lim did not offer bail, citing the victim's status as a minor.
The judge subsequently denied bail and scheduled Dec 19 for further mention and the appointment of a lawyer for the accused.
