'My grandchildren are now orphans', says Mohd Ridzwan's mother [WATCH]

PASIR GUDANG: The family of Mohd Ridzwan Mohd Rudi, 37, and his wife, Linda Mohd A Aziz, 35, who were tragically killed when their motorcycle was struck by a car allegedly driven by an intoxicated driver, is seeking justice for the victims.

Mohd Ridzwan's mother, Ramlah Kasiran, 56, said that the couple leaves behind five children aged between 3 and 17.

She recounted her shock upon receiving the news about her second son, fondly known as Abang Wan, after receiving a phone call at 4am.

"I received a call from Abang Wan's number, but it turned out he had left his phone at home that morning. His son, Muhammad Ikmal Danish, 15, told me that a friend had come knocking on their door to inform them of his father's accident.

"Ikmal asked me to go to the accident site near the road to the lake. I went with my husband, thinking my son might just be injured.

"But when we arrived, I saw a police truck, and my legs gave way. I fell to the ground, overwhelmed. I kept seeing Abang Wan in my mind at the crash site, calling his name repeatedly. A young man eventually calmed me down and told me my son had passed away after being hit by a drunk driver," she said when met at her home in Flat Taman Cendana today.

Ramlah added that she was shocked to learn that her son's wife was also involved in the accident.

"Usually, my son, who worked as a lorry driver, would return home by 4am after starting an hour earlier to drop his wife off at Johor Baru.

"I thought it was only my son involved in the accident. I didn't know his wife was also a victim. I couldn't bear to see their bodies after such a heart-wrenching tragedy.

"My eldest child, who had also left early for work that morning, mentioned seeing an accident, but didn't realise it involved their sibling.

"I hope justice will be served for my son and daughter-in-law, and that the perpetrator faces an appropriate punishment. I've lost my son, and now my grandchildren are orphans.

"I will take care of all my son's children, even though I have no stable income. I depend on my husband, Mohd Rudi Abdul Rahman, 61, who works as a forklift driver at a supermarket," she said.
