Johor police chief denies retirement rumours

JOHOR BARU: Johor police have denied rumours of the retirement of its police chief Datuk M. Kumar, as circulated in a one-minute video on TikTok.

Kumar dismissed the video's content as false and baseless.

He said he is still carrying out his duties and responsibilities as usual to ensure the safety and public order in the state.

"We would like to remind the public not to spread unverified and irresponsible information that may cause confusion.

"Any official information regarding changes in the police leadership will only be announced through official channels.

"The Johor police take the spread of this false news seriously, and appropriate action will be taken against any parties involved in disseminating inaccurate information under the existing law," he said in a statement.

The viral video showed Kumar attending the 2024 Johor Contingent Retiree and Future Retiree Celebration Ceremony at the Iskandar Puteri district police headquarters.
