Woman, 66, survives fall from Penang Bridge, lands in mud

GEORGE TOWN: A 66-year-old woman who fell over the Penang Bridge into sea, had a lucky escape when she got stuck in mud.

The Prai Fire and Rescue station was alerted to the incident at Km1.1 of the bridge, island bound, about 3.30pm today.

The woman had left her Honda car on the bridge.

Operations commander Rohaizal Abdul Aziz said when they arrived, they found the woman stuck inside the mud.

"Our personnel climbed over the bridge and used a rescue rope to rescue the woman.

"He then raised the woman to the concrete part of the bridge," he said today.

Rohaizal said the victim was then taken by a fishing boat to the marine police jetty before being handed over to the police for further action.
