KUALA LUMPUR: Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has given a tongue-in-cheek response to American political commentator Tucker Carlson's claim that presidential candidate Kamala Harris is Malaysian.
"Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Mr. Carlson. We were not aware that a Malaysian was running for the office of US President," he said in a Facebook post.
"Should Puan Kamala win the race, we are delighted to invite her to 'balik kampung' and try some 'nasi goreng USA'," he said.
At a Donald Trump rally earlier this week, Carlson, the former Fox News host referred to Harris as "Samoan-Malaysian" when talking about the US vice-president.
Harris, who is from Oakland, California, is half-Jamaican and half-Indian.
