Fire destroys 130 motorcycles at City Hall impound

KUALA LUMPUR: A Kuala Lumpur City Hall vehicle storage centre near Taman Connaught here caught fire this afternoon, destroying more than 130 seized motorcycles.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said a distress call was received at 12.33pm. Two fire engines and 10 firefighters from Bandar Tun Razak and Cheras were dispatched to the scene.

"Upon arrival, the team of firefighters led by senior fire assistant II Mohd Hisam Mamat found that the blaze was affecting a collection of old motorcycles stored at the abandoned vehicle depot owned by City Hall," he said.

"The fire was successfully extinguished, but not before it completely destroyed 130 motorcycles of various models."

He said the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
