KUALA BERANG: "Study well," said the late Shazwani Ismail, 39, to her daughter, Nur Jihan Irdina Mohd Junaizi, 13, when she dropped her off at the latter's dormitory on Oct 19.
Shazwani; her husband, Mohd Junaizi Jusoh, 48; their son Muhammad Fakrul Danish Mohd Junaizi, 18; and Shazwani's sister, Farhana, 35, died in a road accident at Km86 of the Jalan Gua Musang-Lojing in Gua Musang, Kelantan, yesterday.
The crash involved a Perodua Myvi and a lorry. Lorry driver G. Mageswara, 53, was also killed.
Nur Jihan Irdina, who was at her dormitory at SM Sains Hulu Terengganu, said she was called by the warden after Asar prayers.
"The warden didn't say why. He only mentioned that I needed to go home, so I went back to my room to change my clothes.
"A little while later, my aunt came to pick me up.
"And when we were in the car, my aunt told me that mum, dad, and brother Danish were no longer with us because they had been in an accident," she said tearfully.
Nur Jihan Irdina, the second of three siblings, said the last time she saw her parents was on Oct 19, when they dropped her off at the dormitory.
"I had gone home for a weekend break recently, and mum and dad took me back to the dorm on Oct 19.
"Mum advised me to study hard (molek-molek).
"I didn't expect that to be her final words," she said at the Kampung Payang Kayu Mosque here today.
Earlier, the remains of the four family members were buried at 9.50am
In the accident, the lorry, travelling from Cameron Highlands to Lojing, is believed to have lost control and veered into the opposite lane, colliding with the Myvi, which then plunged into a ravine.
