GUA MUSANG: Five people, including two women, were killed in a crash involving a lorry and a Perodua Myvi here this morning.
The victims were identified as 53-year-old lorry driver Mageswara Gopal and four people in the car, driver Mohd Junaizi Jusoh, 48; Shazwani Ismail, 39; Farhana Ismail, 35, and Muhammad Fakrul Danish Mohd Junaizi, 20.
All died on the spot in the 11.30am crash at Km86 Jalan Gua Musang-Lojing.
District police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said investigations were ongoing.
Meanwhile, Gua Musang fire station chief Nor Azizi Che Noh said 18 firemen rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 11.57am.
"All the five victims were found to be pinned in the wreckages of the vehicles when firemen arrived there.
"With the help of a team of firemen from Cameron Highlands, the operation to retrieve the bodies from the vehicles began at 1.25pm," he said.
He added that firemen had to use special equipment to retrieve the bodies as the vehicles were badly damaged.
"The bodies were handed over to police after the operation ended at 3.55pm," he added.
The five bodies were sent to Gua Musang Hospital for post-mortem examination.
