RANAU: Sabah Parks has issued a stern warning to climbers at Mount Kinabalu following a series of weather-related incidents along the Summit Trail.
Panalaban substation officer Julaimin Kamin said there were continuous rain, strong winds, and heavy fog, leading to landslides and fallen trees.
Among the reported incidents were a landslide at KM3.8 and fallen trees at KM1.6 and KM0.6. He added these had raised safety concerns.
Climbers, guides, porters, and staff along the trail are urged to exercise extra caution during any ascent to Panalaban.
"Safety monitoring and maintenance work are being carried out regularly," he said on Facebook.
The park authorities are closely monitoring the situation to safeguard the safety of all individuals on the mountain.
