KAJANG: A teenage girl was found dead after a house caught fire in Saujana Impian today.
The 17-year-old victim was believed to have been home alone when the fire broke out at 4pm.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the operations centre received a distress call about the incident at 4.20pm.
"Three fire engines from the Kajang, Bangi, and Seri Kembangan Fire and Rescue Stations were dispatched to the scene.
"The operations commander reported a fire involving a two-storey terraced house. The team discovered the teenage girl had been burnt to death in an upstairs room," he said in a statement today.
A total of 27 officers and personnel were involved in extinguishing the fire, with the house 60 per cent destroyed.
He said the operation was assisted by the K9 unit, forensics, police, the Health Ministry, and Tenaga Nasional Berhad.
