PUTRAJAYA: The Agriculture and Food Security Ministry's reform plan will implement a "separation of powers" between the Rice and Padi Regulatory Division, the Padi Industry Development Division (PIP), and Bernas.
Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said that currently, some senior positions within these agencies were held by the same individuals, hindering effective duty delivery.
To address this, he said that key positions would now be assigned to different individuals, allowing each to focus more effectively on their specific responsibilities.
"This change aims to eliminate any perceptions of one person wearing multiple hats. We will ensure that there are two distinct roles held by two different people," he said after the ministry's monthly assembly today.
This initiative is part of the ministry's broader reform plan, aligning with the government's public service reform agenda.
Earlier, Mohamad announced that a single enforcement agency would be established to oversee Malaysia's agro-food sector, consolidating personnel from seven agencies under the ministry.
