TELUPID: A senior care centre costing RM2.5 million is expected to be ready in December 2025, said state Community Development and People's Wellbeing Minister Datuk James Ratib.
"This project is under the state Social Welfare Department, which is being constructed near the department's Telupid district office," he said after making a site inspection of the project here.
He said the centre would be equipped with a dormitory and an administrative block.
"The target group is the elderly who are still healthy but alone, homeless, and still able to work.
"This dormitory will provide them a comfortable and safe environment, ensuring their physical and mental wellbeing.
"In addition, the administrative block will function as a management centre that organises all the needs and activities of the residents," he said.
Ratib said the centre would give the senior citizens the opportunity to live a more meaningful life, with the support of the community and the facilities provided.
"It is expected to provide opportunities for them to contribute and work in the various activities provided," he said.
