PUTRAJAYA: Two of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's sons, Tan Sri Mokhzani and Mirzan, have declared their assets to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed that the duo declared their assets according to the time given to them.
"They have declared their assets but our investigators are finalising the details with their lawyers.
"Basically, they have declared their assets," he told reporters today.
On Aug 14, Azam had said that Mokhzani and Mirzan were granted a final one-month extension until the middle of this month to declare their assets.
Mirzan and Mokhzani were instructed by MACC in January to declare their assets since 1981, the year Dr Mahathir became prime minister.
The investigation was conducted according to the MACC Act 2009, and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
It was previously reported that Mokhzani and Mirzan were supposed to declare their assets on May 25 and May 29, respectively.
The two men had previously been given a 30-day extension to declare assets on April 26. Prior to that, they had also been given an extension by the MACC in February.
