PUTRAJAYA: Former members of the Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holding (GISB) will be called soon to facilitate investigations into the company and the group's ideological doctrine, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Moktar said.
The former members, he said, will be called by the special committee that was formed recently to conduct a thorough investigation and study of GISB's doctrines to eradicate deviant teachings.
"The (special) committee formed under my authority will resolve and finalise the study related to GISBH.
"We will later call former GISBH members to obtain accurate information," Na'im said after attending the 2024 national-level Maulidur Rasul Celebration here today.
He added that the GISBH's status either will be declared heretical or otherwise will be discussed at the National Committee on Islamic Religious Affairs Malaysia (MKI) level.
On Friday, Na'im said issues related to GISBH will be brought before the MKI.
He also said that the matter would be referred to the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) to address issues concerning faith.
Na'im added that ministry is in constant communication with the authorities about the condition of women and children rescued by the police in several raids on charity homes linked to GISBH.
"We are working with the police and I am in regular communication with the Inspector-General of Police to address their welfare, as this is our priority.
"Moreover, the Department of Social Welfare under the Women, Family, and Community Development Minister, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, will ensure their welfare, education, and future direction are taken care of," he said.
On Sept 11, police rescued 402 children from 20 homes connected to GISB during a raid, which also resulted in the arrest of 171 people.
It was reported that police investigations into some of the welfare homes raided earlier have led to claims of sodomy and abuse against the children.
Based on intelligence gathered, police found that some victims were sodomised by their caregivers.
Police also received information that they were taught the act of sodomy and forced to sodomise other children in the homes.
GISB has since denied the allegations and threatened legal action against those who defame the company.
