KUALA LUMPUR: Doctors being probed for bullying should be suspended pending the outcome of investigations, says a group representing contract doctors.
Hartal Doktor Kontrak spokesman Dr Muhammad Yassin said action must be taken against those who are found to have bullied others including being sacked.
"Bullying cases have been reported to superiors before, but in some cases, they go unreported as the victims fear retribution," he told Berita Harian.
Previously, Hartal Doktor Kontrak called on the Health Ministry to act against alleged bullies in the healthcare system.
Muhammad said all reports of bullying must be kept confidential and action should not be taken against complainants.
He said there were many complaints of bullying in public hospitals.
"In fact, in 2022, one case led to the ministry setting up a special committee to look into the issue but it has not stopped bullying," he said.
Yesterday Health Minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad said the ministry does not tolerate bullying.
