MELAKA: The family of six-month-old Haura Najia Mohd. Kamaruddin Helsa, who died after being found unconscious in a childcare centre in Pulau Gadong here two years ago, continues to seek justice for their tragic loss.
The victim's mother, Nurul Fateha Md. Sandollah, 37, expressed her sadness that Haura's death has yet to receive proper justice.
"To this day, we still do not know what exactly happened to our child. We sent Haura to the centre in good health, and later, the management informed us that our baby was unconscious and had been taken to the Melaka Hospital at 4.29 pm on Oct 27, 2022.
"Medical officers told us our baby had no pulse and resuscitation efforts were made for 24 minutes before intubation, and she was confirmed dead two days later," she said during an interview with Kosmo! at her home in Taman Bertam Impian.
Nurul Fateha said their request to view the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the childcare centre was not granted.
"Additionally, there has been no follow-up action by the relevant agencies regarding Haura's death.
"We received the autopsy report only four months after her death, which confirmed a lung infection, and it took so long. Unlike the case of Al Fateh (eight-month-old Muhammad Al Fateh Amri), we were not allowed to see the footage from the centre's CCTV, and were told that the CCTV was just a 'dummy'," she said.
Nurul Fateha is asking for the relevant parties to come forward with explanations, including the state Social Welfare Department, which continued to allow the centre to operate despite it being unregistered at the time of the incident.
"At present, I can only ease my longing by smelling Haura's clothes. I hug them and hope she appears in my dreams, even if just for a moment," she added.
