MAHA 2024 to showcase cutting-edge agriculture tech from 16 countries

KUALA LUMPUR: The highly anticipated Malaysian Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agro Tourism Exhibition (MAHA) 2024, now over 90 per cent complete, will see 16 countries showcasing its latest agricultural technology and innovations this Wednesday.

Marking its 100th year with the theme "Harvesting Tomorrow Where Dreams Blossom", participants from countries such as the United States, Russia, Japan, Thailand, Brunei and China will display cutting-edge advancements in agriculture, particularly in artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things.

Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said MAHA 2024 will serve as a platform for industry professionals to exchange knowledge, foster business connections and explore new opportunities.

"We are expecting three million visitors this year, a testament to the exhibition's importance in driving our national agricultural sector and strengthening international collaborations," he said at a press conference after attending a media trip to review the final preparations for the event, scheduled from Sept 11 to 22.

This year's edition will feature eight key focus areas, including agriculture, sustainability, human capital development, agro-tourism, technology, and investment.

Mohamad said the "MAHA Go Global" segment was designed to enhance Malaysia's status on the international stage by inviting foreign countries to showcase their agricultural technologies and engage in business matching with Malaysian entrepreneurs.

"The 'MAHA Go Global' segment will act as a catalyst for business growth in the agricultural and horticultural sectors, promoting exports and encouraging innovation.

"It's a valuable platform for professionals to build networks and explore new business opportunities."

Visitors can expect a comprehensive line-up of 48 segments, including exhibitions and sales, covering the entire ecosystem related to the agri-food value chain.

Among the main highlights are the Agro-Tech, Agro-Lifestyle, Agro-Tourism, and Agro-Youth segments, while the Agro-Food exhibitions will feature rice, floriculture, pineapple, vegetables and herbs and livestock.
