GOMBAK: Three motorcycle thieves attacked a 44-year-old Indonesian woman in a housing area at Taman Batu here on Monday.
In the 6pm incident, the woman was allegedly riding her motorcycle home to Taman Greenwood when three men on two motorcycles pursued her.
One of them sprayed a substance on her face, causing her to crash. The thieves then fled with her motorcycle.
Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir said the suspects sprayed a liquid on the victim's face to distract her before one of them took her motorcycle and escaped.
"Fortunately, the woman did not suffer any injuries in the incident.
"The victim has lodged a police report, and police have opened an investigation under Section 395 of the Penal Code for robbery," he said.
A closed-circuit television recording showing part of the incident, including the suspects making off with the woman's motorcycle, has been circulating on social media.
He urged anyone with information on the case to contact the district police headquarters or the nearest police station.
