Anwar meets industry leaders in Delhi, seeks stronger India-Malaysia ties [WATCH]

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held separate bilateral meetings with three Indian companies interested in investing in Malaysia in New Delhi today.

This was followed by a roundtable discussion with approximately 40 industry leaders.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by Human Resources Minister Steven Sim, Digital Minister Gobind Singh, and Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz in the meetings with Emami Agrotech Ltd, HCL Tech, and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

TCS was represented by Ujjwal Mathur, Business and Strategic Accounts for India-Growth Markets president; Major (Rtd) Ranjeet Goswami, Global Corporate Affairs head; and Arun Rajendran, country head and board member of TCS Malaysia.

Emami Agrotech Ltd was represented by executive director Manish Goenka, director Vibhash Agarwal, and Trading and Sourcing head Mayur Toshniwal.

HCL Tech was represented by managing director and Global chief executive officer (CEO) C Vijayakumar, President and CEO for Growth Markets (West Asia and APAC) Sandeep Sarkar, and Malaysia country head Arun Rajendran.

TCS is part of the Tata Group, a prominent and historic Indian conglomerate involved in various industries, including steel, automotive, information technology (IT), consumer products, and telecommunications.

Emami Agrotech is a leading player in India's edible oil and food products sector, while HCL Technologies is a globally recognised IT services and consulting company headquartered in India.

Earlier, Anwar met with India's opposition leader Rahul Gandhi in an unscheduled meeting that was not part of the official agenda.

Following the roundtable discussion, the prime minister met with JP Nadda, President of India's ruling party BJP, and later gave an exclusive interview to India Today.

Later in the day, Anwar will meet with Islamic religious leaders before concluding his visit with a press conference for the Malaysian media.

He wrapped up his three-day official visit to India with a meeting with Islamic scholars in New Delhi.

Anwar's official visit, from Aug 19 to 21, was packed with various events aimed at strengthening India-Malaysia bilateral relations, elevating them from an Enhanced Strategic Partnership to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
