Tuan Ibrahim calls for fair investigation into Muhyiddin's speech

KUALA LUMPUR: Pahang opposition leader Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has called for a fair investigation into the allegedly seditious remarks made by Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin during the Nenggiri by-election campaign.

Tuan Ibrahim, who is also the Pas deputy president, urged all parties to refrain from creating unnecessary controversy over the incident.

"The Pahang PN assemblymen fully support the decree of the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang (Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah) regarding Muhyiddin's speech during the Nenggiri campaign, and we call for a fair investigation into the allegations.

"We have full confidence in the police to carry out their duties, and all parties should avoid creating any controversy and must comply with the royal decree," Tuan Ibrahim said in a statement.

The speech in question, which went viral, allegedly touched on the sovereignty of the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, during his tenure as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Muhyiddin claimed that he had the support of 115 members of parliament after the 2022 general election and suggested that the King should have appointed him as the 10th prime minister.

Yesterday, Tengku Hassanal expressed his deep regret and anger over Muhyiddin's actions, accusing him of deliberately belittling and disputing the duties and role of the Sultan of Pahang.

Tengku Hassanal instructed the police to take decisive action without compromise against the former prime minister for his comments on 3R issues.

The Crown Prince described Muhyiddin's statement as manipulative, suggesting that it portrayed a negative narrative, implying that Al-Sultan Abdullah had been unfair in his decision when appointing the 10th prime minister.
