GUA MUSANG: Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan today confirmed that he has been summoned by the police to assist in their investigation into a clip of a political leader allegedly making sensitive remarks during a ceramah recently.
The Pas secretary-general said he received a call from the police to have his statement recorded while he was in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.
The Kota Baru member of Parliament, however, said he would not retract the statement he made on the South Kelantan Development Authority (Kesedar)
"As a loyal citizen of the country, l will go to the police station (to provide his statement).
"However, I hope the police will give me some time as l am busy now (campaigning for the Nenggiri state seat by-election).
"I will give my co-operation and will give my statement to the police after the polling day for the by-election," he told reporters after a ceramah in Sungai Asap here last night.
Takiyuddin said he was summoned by the police after a report was lodged against him by a Gua Musang Umno youth committee member who claimed that he had issued a statement that allegedly threatened the Nenggiri voters.
"For your information, l never issued any threat against voters in my previous ceramah in Bertam Baru," he claimed.
Takiyuddin also claimed that the matter was turned into an issue as the party's political rival was more afraid of losing the Nenggiri by-election.
"If they want to fight, they can use the political stage not by threatening to sue in court," he added.
Takiyuddin also said that he was not afraid of anything including Kesedar chairman Datuk Datuk Zawawi Othman's threat to sue him as his statements were based on facts.
"He (Zawawi) has given me the deadline before Aug 17 Nenggiri polling day to retract my statement but l will not do that.
"All my statements in the ceramah held in Bertam Baru on the land grant issue were based facts," he added.
It was reported that a Gua Musang Umno Youth member lodged a police report against Takiyuddin over his recent comments regarding land grants.
In the report, Muhamad Zaidi Zakir Saari said Takiyuddin's remarks are more of a threat to the Nenggiri voters who, desperately need land ownership.
Yesterday, police confirmed that an investigation paper has been opened on a case against a leader of a political party following his remarks during a ceramah in Bertam Baru.
