GEORGE TOWN: Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo will be extending his leave until Friday (Aug 9).
He is supposed to be on leave until today for medical reasons.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said, last Friday, Jagdeep had informed him of his leave.
"He told me he was doing fine, and upon doctor's advice, he is extending his leave until Friday.
"I have agreed to the extension to enable him to continue with the necessary treatment," he said today.
It was reported that Chow met with Jagdeep's family last Friday to get an update of his condition and whether he needed to extend his leave.
Chow had recently dismissed claims suggesting a change in Jagdeep's position.
He had said the matter had neither been raised nor discussed.
Jagdeep had applied for 11 days leave until today, to undergo health checks and a procedure on his left leg.
In an interview with the New Straits Times recently, he had dismissed claims that he was taking a step back from official duties amid talk that he was on garden leave.
He said he did not know where the talk about him going on garden leave came from.
