KOTA KUNABALU: A three-metre-long reticulated python that had constricted a cat was successfully captured by the Civil Defence Force (APM) in Taman Ujana Kingfisher this morning.
APM officer Captain Aizex Junior said they received an emergency call at 7.51am today.
"An officer and six members from Bravo Squad, led by Staff Sergeant (SM) Mohd Harun, were deployed to the scene.
"Upon arrival, the homeowner reported that the python was behind the house in a drain," he said today.
He added that four members, fully equipped with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), went to the back of the house and found the python in the drain, coiled around a cat.
Using special equipment, APM personnel successfully captured the python.
"The python was taken to the APM Kota Kinabalu office before being released in a safe location," he added.
In a related incident, Aizex reported that two hours later, they received an emergency call about a cobra in a resident's kitchen in Kampung Gudon, Manggatal.
The same team was deployed and successfully captured the one-metre-long, 500-gram cobra found under a dish rack.
