Cleaners stop work after spotting 7m python

KOTA KINABALU: Cleaning workers stopped their work after discovering a 7m-long reticulated python weighing 50kg in a bushy area along Jalan Sembulan near Futsal UTC today.

The incident happened about 1pm when the workers were startled by the presence of the snake while trimming grass.

APM officer Captain Aizex Junior said his team received a call at 1.28pm and dispatched officers to the scene.

"Upon arrival, the caller informed us that the snake was hiding in the undergrowth near a drain by Jalan BTC.

"Our team searched the area and found the snake coiled in the bushes."

The team struggled for about 15 minutes before restraining the python using a snare tool.

The operation concluded at 1.49pm after checking the area for other threats.
