KUALA LUMPUR: Another government backbencher has called for the suspension of the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) chief executive officer while the investigations are ongoing.
Jelutong member of parliament RSN Rayer questioned why no action was taken against Datuk Shahul Dawood.
"CEO Shahul, why no action has been taken against him. I listened to the minister's (winding-up) speech on actions taken on the civil servants.
"Is this CEO immune from action? Is he immune from action being taken? This CEO was appointed during Pagoh's administration (former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin).
"I have also challenged Pendang (Datuk Awang Hashim) and Tapah (Datuk Seri M. Saravanan) to lodge a report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
"My question is, why is there no action taken? The government does not dare to take action against Shahul. Suspend him immediately," he said during the winding-up session of the Auditor General's Report by the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) M. Kulasegaran.
Kulasegaran then responded, saying that the Auditor-General had suggested several actions to be taken.
"(Now) it is up to the respective ministry on the next course of action. I am doing the round-up (on issues raised by the members of parliament when debating the report) and I cannot touch on that.
"However, I agree that Tapah and Pendang should take further action."
Yesterday, during the debate session of the audit report, Pasir Gudang member of parliament Hassan Abdul Karim called for the suspension of the HRD Corp chief executive.
He said the matter must be carried out promptly by Human Resources Minister Steven Sim.
