KUALA LUMPUR: The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has extended the temporary suspension of Systematic Aviation Services Sdn Bhd's (SAS) Air Operator Certificate (AOC).
CAAM chief executive officer Datuk Captain Norazman Mahmud said the extension is effective from June 10 to July 31 which coincides with the expiration of SAS's AOC.
"During this suspension, SAS is expected to comply fully with all regulatory requirements and obtain the necessary approval from the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) to resume operations safely.
"CAAM, serving as the technical regulator of Malaysia's aviation industry, ensures that all air operators meet stringent safety and security standards.
"The AOC, issued by CAAM, authorises air operators to conduct specific aircraft operations," he said in a statement.
Norazman said the issuance and renewal of an AOC involve assessing an operator's ability to conduct safe operations in line with the specified operational guidelines.
"CAAM conducts thorough safety audits to evaluate the capability and competency of air operators in commercial air transport, operations, and airworthiness."
Previously the media reported that CAAM confirmed the 3-month suspension of SAS's AOC.
A CAAM spokesman said the order was issued after Mavcom did not renew SAS's air service permit (ASP), which lapsed on Feb 29.
