BUKIT MERTAJAM: The eldest daughter of Mohd Hazri Hashim, 43, the motorcyclist who was tragically killed by a snapped telecommunications wire yesterday, remembers his excitement in early preparations for Ramadan and Adilifitri.
"He had already fixed up the house. It had always been his dream to install lights on the fence," said Nur Fatin Batrisyia, 19, today.
"He had painted the house for us. He said (he wanted to) do it early so it does not need to be done later."
A Buletin Utama report said Hazri worked as a contractor in Penang, commuting daily from their home in Taman Angsana, Kulim.
He is survived by his wife, Zamzarina Attan, 44, and four children aged 10 to 19.
The funeral was held last night at the Al-Ma'rif Mosque Muslim cemetery in his hometown of Jitra, Kedah.
Earlier today, it was reported that a motorcyclist died in an accident after his neck was snagged by a snapped telecommunications cable, causing him to lose control.
The incident happened in Jalan Kulim, Bukit Mertajam here, about 5pm yesterday.
Seberang Prai Tengah police chief Assistant Commissioner Helmi Aris had said a lorry crane driven by a 20-year-old man was travelling from Kulim to Bukit Mertajam when the crane got caught in a telecommunications cable.
He had said the cable fell on the road and the motorcyclist who was travelling in the opposite direction could not avoid it.
