KUALA LUMPUR: Police are awaiting the right moment to record statements from two victims who are still receiving treatment after losing consciousness, suspected to be due to consuming prohibited substances at the PinkFish concert last week.
Subang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said that the individuals were being treated at the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).
"Their condition is stable but still weak, and as a result, we have not been able to record their statements yet. We are waiting for the appropriate time.
"As of 5pm today, police had recorded statements from 49 individuals to assist in the ongoing investigation," he told BH today.
Azlan said that authorities were awaiting toxicology reports on four concertgoers who died to confirm the presence of prohibited substances and to determine the cause of death.
Previously, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed that the police received six reports related to the deaths of two men and two women after attending the concert.
These reports were filed by UMMC and Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL).
He said initial investigations suggested that the four deceased individuals had consumed ecstasy pills.
Three others were treated at UMMC and HKL, with one of them discharged.
Yesterday (Jan 6), it was reported that the organisers of the PinkFish Countdown 2024 concert were among 43 individuals whose statements had been recorded in connection with the deaths.
Azlan also confirmed that, in addition to the organisers, police also interviewed the families and friends of the seven individuals, staff at the theme park where the concert took place, medical personnel who provided treatment, as well as officers from UMMC and HKL.
The case is currently classified as Sudden Death (SDR), but investigations are ongoing to determine if poisoning or any criminal activity was involved.
