MUAR: Police arrested two women and a man late last night, believed to be involved in a house break-in in Taman Temiang Utama earlier that day.
The suspects attempted to evade capture by abandoning their getaway vehicle on the roadside and hiding in nearby bushes.
However, their efforts proved futile as the police K-9 unit successfully tracked them down.
Authorities had initially pursued the vehicle after noticing its driver acting suspiciously and driving dangerously.
Earlier, a two-minute, 25-second CCTV recording of the break-in at a house on Jalan Utama, Taman Temiang Utama, went viral on social media.
The footage showed three men prying open the front door grill and entering through a sliding door.
Another suspect was seen rummaging through a shoe cabinet outside.
The video captured two men entering the house while a third made multiple trips in and out, carrying several bags before fleeing.
The victim reported the break-in at 12.15am yesterday.
Muar district police chief Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said that the arrested women were believed to be accomplices, while the man was identified as the primary suspect in the break-in.
Police believe two other suspects, seen in the CCTV footage, remain at large but are confident they will be apprehended soon.
The suspects, including the two women in their 20s, have been remanded to assist in the investigation.
Raiz said that the trio was likely linked to other break-in cases reported in the district.
"Investigations are ongoing, and efforts are being made to track down additional suspects still at large," he said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 453 of the Penal Code for housebreaking, the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving, and Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
