Police seek suspect in Taman Klebang Putra theft incident

IPOH: Police are actively searching for a suspect involved in a theft that occurred in Taman Klebang Putra, Chemor, here yesterday.

The incident, which recently gained attention after a viral video was shared by the Facebook account 'Perak Press,' has left local residents concerned.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said that a report was lodged at 12.56pm yesterday regarding the theft.

He said investigations revealed that the victim, a 36-year-old local man, discovered cash missing from the dashboard of his wife's car.

"The car, parked within the compound of their home, was unlocked at the time of the incident. CCTV footage shows an unidentified man scaling a wall from the direction of a neighbouring house before entering the car.

"Police confirmed that there was no damage to the vehicle or signs of forced entry on any doors within the property," he said in a statement today.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.

He urged anyone with information about the case to come forward and assist in the investigation.

"Witnesses or individuals with relevant details are encouraged to contact Investigating Officer Sergeant Ibrahim Ab Wahab at 019-822 5877 or visit the nearest police station.

"Authorities are also cautioning the public against spreading unverified information or taking actions that contravene the law, emphasising the importance of cooperation in resolving the case," he said.

He added that this incident serves as a reminder to residents to remain vigilant and ensure their property is secured to prevent similar occurrences.
