KOTA BARU: The 31-year-old man who was shot dead by police in Pasir Puteh yesterday had been involved in gang robberies in several districts in the state.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the man and several other gang members were active in Pasir Puteh, Bachok, Kota Baru and other districts.
He said police would continue to track down the remaining suspects.
"Our investigation showed that the man who was shot dead yesterday had 24 criminal records.
"Apart from being involved in gang robbery, which was their main activity, the man and his friends also acted as car repossessors," he said today.
He added that the police also believed the gang was only active in Kelantan.
Yesterday, a man high on the wanted list for involvement in various offences including drug abuse, was shot dead by the police.
Mohd Yusoff said the suspect was killed in a shootout with the police at Jalan Jeram Pasu at around 5.30am.
He added police found a semi-automatic firearm, a fake pistol, a parang, and a packet of dried tobacco inside the suspect's car.
He said preliminary investigations showed that the suspect, one of the most wanted criminals in the state, had 24 records for crimes and drug-related offences.
