TUMPAT: The three policemen caught visiting an entertainment outlet in Golok, Thailand, tested positive for drugs.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said this was based on the urine tests carried out against the three when they returned to Kelantan via an illegal jetty situated along the Malaysia-Thailand border.
"l will not tolerate any police personnel and officers committing misconduct, including those who went out at night in the Golok border town and were involved in drug abuse.
"In this case, we have opened two investigation papers against the three.
"Firstly, for their misconduct and secondly for being involved in drug abuse, as all tested positive for drugs," he said at SMK Tumpat here today.
Yusoff, who accompanied Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud who visited flood victims, said he would continue to monitor other officers who exhibited the same behaviour.
"Other officers who like to go out at night to the Golok town are also on our radar," he added.
Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said three Kelantan-based policemen had been transferred after being caught visiting an entertainment outlet in Golok.
He said the cops, aged 26 to 32, had partied at the venue.
He added that one of them has been reassigned to a different department, while the other two will be transferred out of the state police contingent.
He said police had repeatedly warned their personnel and officers against committing misconduct, which taints the police force's image.
