Man posing as customer steals RM64,000 Rolex from store

SUBANG JAYA: A store in SS16 selling branded luxury goods lost RM64,000 after a man posing as a customer allegedly stole a Rolex watch yesterday.

Subang Jaya district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat, said two employees were opening the shop at 10.40am when the suspect approached, pretending to be a customer.

While one employee was on the phone, the suspect was believed to have stolen the watch and hurriedly left the shop, he said.

"Investigations revealed that the suspect had been waiting outside the store before it opened," Wan Azlan said. He added that the suspect had claimed to have made an appointment via message and asked questions about the items for sale.

Wan Azlan said the suspect then told the employee that he needed to pick up his boss from the floor below and quickly left the shop.

A few hours later, around 2.14pm, the employee was informed by her colleague that a watch was missing and had been stolen.

The case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code (Act 574), which pertains to theft in a building.

"The police urge anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward and assist the police by calling 03-78627222 (Subang Jaya District Control Centre) or contacting the investigating officer, Inspector Muhammad Fathurrahman Ampandi, at 011-29395178," Wan Azlan added.
