LUMUT: Police are hunting for a suspect involved in the theft of car tyres at a paid parking lot on a private island here.
The incident came to light after a car owner uploaded a video showing that two of his Honda City's tyres had been stolen.
In the video, which has since gone viral, the victim lamented that the tyres were stolen from the car park where he pays RM150 a month.
Manjung police chief Assistant Commissioner Hasbullah Abd Rahman said that at the time of the incident, the victim was on Pulau Pangkor and only realised his tyres had been stolen after a friend informed him.
The victim subsequently lodged a police report.
Hasbullah said the tyres and rims are estimated to cost around RM2,000.
The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.
