KOTA BARU: The Kelantan Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has stated that it will leave the investigation of the case in which a man was arrested for impersonating one of its officers yesterday, to the police.
State MACC director Rosli Husain said the commission would also wait for the police to inform them officially on the matter.
"MACC headquarters will confirm whether the suspect was its officer or not after police refer the case to them officially.
"Until then, l reserve further comment on this case. We will wait for the police to carry out its probe first," he said when contacted.
It was reported today that police arrested a man yesterday for impersonating a MACC officer at the Tasek Raja market.
They also seized a Walther P88 pistol with eight bullets, a drone set, handcuffs, an unauthorised ID card, several t-shirts with the MACC logo and some cash from the suspect.
General Operations Force Southeast Brigade commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abd Hamid said the man was detained by the GOF Seventh Battalion.
He added the suspect was driving a four-wheel-drive vehicle when he was stopped for inspection at about 11am.
Meanwhile, sources said that the suspect has been deceiving the public for a long time, especially in the Pasir Mas areas.
"His target victims are mostly those working in Pasir Mas and the surrounding areas," said the sources.
