KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission has rubbished claims that the Negri Sembilan police chief was about to be arrested.
This follows a message circulated on social media claiming that a public relations officer for the Negri Sembilan police chief was caught by the graft busters on Monday.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said there was no truth to the messages being circulated.
"It's fake," he said today.
The message which was circulated on Telegram claimed that the MACC arrested the officer yesterday and found RM4 million in cash.
It also claimed that there was a strong possibility that the Negri Sembilan police chief would be arrested as well.
The message also claimed that the Negri Sembilan police chief has made over RM20 million in his two years as the state police chief there.
Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof when contacted, labelled the message as untrue news.
When asked if there was any action to be taken on his side to get to the bottom of the allegations he said there was none at this juncture.
"There are lots of issues that are untrue being circulated on social media," he said.
