PORT DICKSON: A Year 5 pupil from Sekolah Kebangsaan Port Dickson was injured today after being struck by a car driven by a suspected drunk driver.
The incident occurred at 7.10am when the victim was crossing the road and was hit by a Perodua Myvi.
District police chief Superintendent Maslan Udin said that the driver ran a red traffic light, colliding with the victim.
"The impact resulted in a fracture to the victim's right big toe and cuts on his legs and hands," he said in a statement today.
Following the incident, police arrested the 28-year-old driver.
A breathalyser test revealed that the driver had a blood alcohol content of 230mg alcohol/100ml of blood, exceeding the legal limit of 153mg alcohol/100ml.
"The suspect has been remanded for four days, from today, for further investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 44(1A) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he added.
