KUALA LUMPUR: Pahang Immigration has detained 147 foreigners in an operation targeting premises in Kuantan, Temerloh, and Genting Highlands.
The operation, which ran from 12.30am to 4.40am, involved 18 officers and targeted premises suspected of employing undocumented migrants based on tip-offs.
"Out of the 147 people inspected, 51 were detained for various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
"The detainees included 18 Indonesians, nine Myanmar nationals, six Bangladeshis, 15 Nepalese, and three Pakistanis.
"The detainees, aged between 22 and 51, have been remanded for 14 days at the Kemayan Immigration Depot for further investigation," the department said in a Facebook posting.
It added that the employers of the premises involved were being tracked down to assist with the investigation.
"The Pahang Immigration Department urges the public to report the presence of undocumented migrants in their localities to aid efforts in curbing the influx of illegal workers."
