KOTA TINGGI: Two foreigners arrested for allegedly engaging in indecent and lewd behaviour during Pan Asia International recently are expected to be charged at the Sessions Court here today.
The duo, aged 66 and 70, was among three participants of the international running event who were arrested by the police on Saturday to assist in investigations into the case.
Johor police chief Datuk M Kumar said the foreigners are expected to be charged under Section 294(a) of the Penal Code for committing obscene acts in public.
"We received the directive to charge the duo today after the investigation paper on the case was referred to the state public prosecutor's office yesterday.
"Both men face the maximum three months imprisonment or a fine or both upon conviction," Kumar said in a statement today.
It was reported that the two foreigners and a local man were detained at a hotel here at 10pm.
Kumar had previously said that the police seized several items including a red saree, a red skirt, silver cardboard cutouts, and a silver replica spear when they arrested the suspects.
Initial investigations showed that the runners' actions were individual and were not set by the event organisers.
