KUALA LUMPUR: Police found members of Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) were still practicing the banned "Aurad Muhammadiya", said the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
This, Razarudin said, was based on books and pamphlets seized during phase four of Op Global on Sept 21.
"During raids under phase four of Op Global, we managed to seize a total of 455 books, pamphlets and logos linked to the company and its teachings.
"We believe, from intelligence and information received, the company members were still practicing the Aurad Muhammadiyah because we found books linked to deceased Al-Arqam founder Ashaari Muhammad.
"There are items seized that were contrary to the teachings of Islam and related to Aurad Muhammadiyah which was followed by Al-Arqam," he told reporters here today.
Razarudin said they seized a total of 455 books, pamphlets and logos linked to the company and its teachings.
Aurad Muhammadiah is a 'wirid' that was decided by a fatwa that the Al-Arqam community used to practice, which was banned at both state and national levels.
GISB has been at the center of police investigations after raids on Sept 11 on 20 welfare homes allegedly operated by them led to 402 children rescued.
Subsequent screenings of the children showed many of them suffered physical and emotional injuries.
During the course of investigations, police also revealed that 13 of the children had also been sodomised.
GISB has since denied the allegations of child exploitation and sexual abuse.
