KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) launched an operation against unlicensed foreign vendors and business premises along Jalan Sri Bintang and Jalan Pintasan Segambut on Saturday (Sept 7).
In a Facebook post today, DBKL said during the operation goods from two unlicensed foreign vendors were seized under the Hawkers Licensing By-Laws (WPKL) 2016, and two additional business premises were cleared for obstructing public spaces under the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974.
The seized items were taken to the confiscation store at Jalan Lombong, Taman Miharja Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, for documentation.
DBKL said it would continue to monitor such hotspots and take necessary action. It encouraged the public to submit complaints or information in the link provided.
On Aug 21, DBKL's Kepong branch office and its enforcement department conducted a special operation targeting business premises run by foreigners and those employing foreigners in the area.
During the operation, enforcement action was taken against the owners of four premises under the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974, and another fined under the Trade, Business and Industrial Licensing Act (WPKL) 2016.
On July 31, DBKL sealed off several unlicensed stalls and car wash operations run by foreign vendors during an operation. The operation, conducted by the Wangsa Maju branch, also targeted nine illegal hawkers, including four foreign nationals.
The actions were taken as the hawkers were operating without the necessary licences and were found to be obstructing public spaces.
