KUALA LUMPUR: A 27-year-old priest arrested for allegedly committing physical sexual assault on a teenager will be charged at the Sessions Court in Shah Alam today.
The matter was confirmed by Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat.
"The police have received an instruction to charge the suspect under Section 14(a) and Section 14(b) of the Sexual Offences Act Against Children Act 2017 with committing sexual assault against a 13-year-old male teenager," he said.
It was reported that the victim lodged a police report on Aug 12.
In the report, the victim claimed that the suspect had physically sexually harassed him in a bedroom within the grounds of a church at Bandar Bukit Puchong between June and July this year.
Acting on the report and investigation, police arrested the suspect at a restaurant in Puchong near here the following day.
