KUANTAN: A 28-year-old housewife, who was reported missing yesterday, was found dead, believed to have been strangled in her house in Indera Mahkota here.
The victim's 62-year-old father had lodged a missing person report about 3.25pm at the Kuantan police station before her husband found her lying in their bedroom at 7.30pm.
Kuantan police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said the victim's father, a trader, lodged a police report claiming he last contacted his daughter about 8.30am yesterday through WhatsApp.
"Since he could no longer contact his daughter, the man became worried and lodged a report at 3.25pm. About 7.30pm, the victim's husband called him to inform that his daughter (victim) was found unconscious in the house with strangulation marks on her neck.
"Policemen went to the house and her remains were taken to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for post-mortem. An autopsy will be performed about 2.30pm today," he said today.
Wan Mohd Zahari said investigations revealed the victim and her father lived separately.
"After getting married, the victim moved out to stay in Indera Mahkota with her husband, who is a Chinese national, and the couple have a 3-year-old son. Her husband works as a factory supervisor while the victim was a housewife.
"Police believe the victim was strangled to death in her house and we are investigating the motive of the attack.
"Police have remanded four of the victim's family members, aged between 27 and 62, for questioning under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder," he said, adding that the suspects will be taken to court for a remand application today.
