PASIR GUDANG: The husband of murdered Istiqomah Ahmad Rozi, Mohd Yusof Mokhtar, 35, has denied rumours that the suspect arrested by police was her ex-boyfriend.
He said that the suspect was her business associate.
Mohd Yusof expressed concern over the misinformation, which he believes could unfairly tarnish his late wife's reputation.
"The suspect was not her ex-boyfriend; he was simply a business partner," he said, adding that even the police had advised the family to disregard online speculation and focus on the facts.
"We were made to understand that their communication was strictly business-related," he added, when met today.
The family is now relying on the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and deliver justice for Istiqomah.
"We are still in shock and grief over what happened. We did everything in our power to locate her," he said.
Earlier, Mohd Yusof said he wanted the death penalty for the perpetrator.
Istiqomah, a teacher at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kota Masai 3, was reported missing after she failed to return home from work on Dec 26, 2023.
