KUALA LUMPUR: Four men, including three members of the General Operations Force (GOF), have been charged in connection with a robbery in Semenyih last month.
In a statement, Kajang District Police Chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the four were charged at the Bandar Baru Bangi Magistrate's Court yesterday.
"At 12.17am on July 31, 2024, the Kajang District Police Headquarters received information about a robbery at a residence on Jalan Sungai Pening, Kampung Pasir Semenyih. An investigation was initiated under Section 3 of the Firearms Act 1971(Increased Penalties)," he said.
Naazron added that all four individuals were charged under Section 4 of the act for committing robbery with firearms.
The first and second accused face additional charges under Section 3 of the same Act for discharging firearms during the robbery.
The fourth accused has been charged under Section 3A for being present while the firearms were discharged.
No pleas have been recorded, and bail has been denied for all the accused, Naazron said.
"The Kajang District Police will not protect any officers, senior or junior, who are found involved in criminal activities. We will take strict action without compromise," he added.
On August 1, it was reported that three GOF members had been arrested in connection with the armed robbery.
