KUALA LUMPUR: Joseph Sinnappan, the father of deceased Navy cadet Soosaimanicckam, plans to file a police report against the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) tomorrow over his son's death.
Lawyers for Liberty (LFL) announced in a press alert that the report will be filed at 10.30am at the Petaling Jaya district police station.
On Monday, the Ipoh High Court overturned the Coroner's Court's open verdict on the death, reclassifying it as homicide.
Judge Datuk Abdul Wahab Mohamed ruled that the RMN officer responsible for the cadet's training had deliberately denied him medical treatment, leading to his death.
"In light of the High Court's ruling, Soosaimanicckam's family will be calling for a murder investigation in their police complaint against the RMN," the LFL alert said.
He will be accompanied by his lawyer, Zaid Malek.
