KUALA LUMPUR: A male teacher was arrested yesterday on suspicion of sexually abusing several male students at a primary school in Hulu Selangor over the past week.
The victims, all aged 12, were allegedly abused by the teacher while participating in a football competition representing the district.
The teacher, in his 30s, was arrested by police in Bukit Beruntung at 1.30am yesterday, following the exposure of his misconduct.
Hulu Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Asri Mohd Yunus said police received four reports about the incidents between 2.03am and 10am on the same day.
The suspect is believed to have committed the abuse at various locations, including a room at a guesthouse in Ulu Yam.
"The teacher was arrested by a team from the District Criminal Investigation Division. Urine tests were negative, and he has no prior criminal or drug record," the statement said.
Following the arrest, four investigation papers have been opened against the suspect, who is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
The teacher has been remanded for six days, starting today until July 31, to assist with the investigation.
