JOHOR BARU: The first four suspects in the kidnapping case of six-year-old Albertine Leo Jia Hui have been released on police bail today.
The four-day remand period for the two male and two female suspects, aged between 28 and 55, ended today.
Iskandar Puteri police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan confirmed the matter when contacted today.
"The remand is not extended, thank you," he said briefly.
Yesterday, Kumar said the four individuals would be released on police bail if further remand was not required.
Leo went missing at about 8.30pm on July 20 at the Eco Galleria business centre, near here.
Following the disappearance of the child, police arrested three suspects, two men and one woman, in the Gelang Patah area around 1.30pm last Monday to assist with the investigation.
The missing person report was subsequently reclassified as a kidnapping case before another female suspect was arrested around 12.15am last Tuesday.
Four of the five suspects detained in connection with the case were then remanded for four days from Tuesday until today.
Police rescued the child after she was held captive by a fifth suspect at a hotel in Batang Kali, Selangor.
