Man nabbed with syabu worth RM700,000 at Genting Sempah R&R

BENTONG: Police detained a 34-year-old man who is believed to have used the Genting Sempah rest and relaxation parking area near here as a drug distribution transit on July 18.

Police found 21,143g of syabu, estimated to worth RM697,717, inside the suspect's Honda Jazz in the 12.20pm raid.

Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said acting on a tip-off, a police team ambushed the suspect.

"Upon inspecting his car, policemen found 20 plastic packets believed to contain syabu in the rear seat.

Investigations revealed that the suspect obtained the drug supply from the Klang Valley to be distributed in Pahang.

"We believe that the suspect is part of a drug distribution syndicate that started operating early this year. The suspect has three drug-related records," he said at the Bentong police headquarters here today.

Yahaya said the suspect has been remanded till July 25.

The case is being being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug trafficking.
