KUALA LUMPUR: The police investigation into the bomb threat incident at the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry's building in Putrajaya near here is still ongoing to identify the suspect responsible.
Putrajaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz, in a brief update on the case, said that to date, police have recorded statements from several individuals to facilitate the investigation.
These individuals, he said, included Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and other witnesses.
"Efforts to locate the suspect are ongoing. Any further developments will be updated," he said.
He added that the investigations are being done under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation by anonymous communication.
Yesterday, it was reported the police will record the statement from Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing over the bomb threat incident at the minister's office.
On Wednesday, the Motac building was reported to have received a bomb threat on its 14th floor, prompting an evacuation around 4.30pm.
Police then deployed 10 officers from Putrajaya police's Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) to the scene in addition to two sniffer dogs.
It was later found that the suspicious parcel, which contained a fake bomb, consisted of a timer, wires and a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe.
